NYU, Department of Social and Cultural Analysis / LTL Architects

LTL adds another slick design to their awesome portfolio.

...this space is all about texture: cork strips wrap around the walls, floors and “flex space” (classroom and lecture area). If used incorrectly, it would look cheap, yes, but here, in controlled stripes, it adds flavor, like the back-lit glass and large graphics that appear throughout.

Professors usually want all of the window space for their offices—who cares about the students outside? LTL cares. In their design, some office sections were “carved away” to inject the inner space with natural light.
