iOS 7 Grid Wallpaper Background

Well, with the release of iOS 7 for iPhone this week we saw many improvements and changes. One change was that to the underlying grid for which the icons conform to on each screen. Previously, I've always had a grid as my background wallpaper (as a graphic designer I have an unhealthy relationship with grids) but with iOS 7 it broke the grid wallpaper.

So, what to do but design a new one. Here it is for you to download and use if you'd like as well. Click on the image below to open the full-size image, then save that to your phone's camera roll and set it as the home screen in settings.

One thing to keep in mind is that you have to go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion and turn the setting to "on." in order for the grid wallpaper to line up properly. Otherwise the icons actually move a bit when you move the phone and you can't set a wallpaper to 100%, it always "zooms in."

Enjoy! Would love to hear from anyone that decides to use it. Cheers.

  1. I enjoy the simplicity of your design. It feels like I'm looking at a drafting table. The new system is so bright, having the dark gray really sets it apart.

  2. Finally a wallpaper that fits IOS 7 as a grid!

Thank you very much...I would be interested in a black background with shelves or a darker grey. I literally spent two hours playing with wallpapers after taking the IOS 7 plunge two days ago.

Kudos to you for this! Thank you.

    1. Glad you like it. Yeah, I had to make one as soon as I realized iOS 7 had a new grid and "broke" my old wallpaper.
